Soap for dry skin – How to break the bad spiral
Share
Have you ever wondered why your skin feels dry, itchy or irritated, even though you moisturize it regularly? The answer may lie in the soap you use. It's easier than you think to give your skin the right conditions to feel good – and the first step is choosing the right soap.
What exactly is "bad soap"?
Many conventional soaps – both solid and liquid – contain strong fat-dissolving substances and synthetic chemicals that dry out the skin. They remove the skin's natural protection, sebum, without adding anything back. The result? Skin that becomes dry, irritated and sensitive.
The skin is a complex organ, covered in its own fat and a unique microflora, often called the skin biome. This protection acts as a natural barrier against bacteria and viruses, but for it to function optimally, the skin needs to be left relatively undisturbed.
How bad soap affects the skin
When we use soaps with strong fat-dissolving substances, too much of the sebum is washed away. What remains is unbalanced skin that is extra sensitive and often starts to itch or flake. To compensate, we lubricate the skin with creams, but the damage is already done – the skin does not get a chance to recover, because it is constantly exposed to these harsh products.
What is the solution?
Change your soap! By choosing a soap based on natural, saponified oils, you can gently cleanse your skin while maintaining its natural balance. This type of soap moisturizes the skin already during washing and helps it repair itself.
Avoid products called shower cream, shower oil or shampoo if they contain strong fat-dissolving ingredients and synthetic additives. Instead, opt for a soap that is truly a soap – created to be gentle and caring.
